How do I set up a new Microsoft Teams Standard Channel?
Last updated: January 13, 2026
It’s best practice to create a new team per customer. This helps make sure they only have visibility into relevant messages.
The Microsoft Teams integration supports both standard and shared channels. For more info about the setup steps for a shared channel, check out this article.
Create Teams Standard Channel
Create a new "Team"

Hover over the team and select "Manage Team"

Note: Steps 3-6 are only required if you have not reauthorized the Pylon Teams app connection since July 20, 2025. If you click 'Reauthorize' Teams from the App Directory, you may skip these steps.
Select "Apps" and then "Get more apps"

In the "Built for your org" section at the top of the App Directory, click on the Pylon app. You'll see it appear as "<Your Company> Team".
Click the "Open" button

Find and select the channel name you want to add the app to, and click Go

Note that during this step, Teams forces you to choose a channel to add the App to. But the app will be installed for the entire Team. Due to Teams limitations, you cannot select a shared channel when adding an App. However, every Team comes with a non-shared channel by default when it's created, so just add the App to the Team via this first channel. Once added to the team, the App will work for all channels in the Team (including shared channels).
