How do I create custom user statuses?
Last updated: September 15, 2026
Question
How can I create custom user statuses such as “In a meeting,” “On break,” or “On shift” for my workspace?
Answer
Workspace administrators can create custom user statuses from the user settings:
Go to Settings > Users.
Click Manage User Data.
Open the Statuses tab.
Under Available or Unavailable, click Add Status.
Enter a unique label for the status.
Click Save.
How custom statuses affect availability
Each custom status inherits the behavior of the availability group where it is created:
A status under Available behaves like the built-in Active status.
A status under Unavailable behaves like the built-in Away status.
Custom labels give teammates more context without changing the workspace’s existing assignment behavior.
Managing existing statuses
Edit: Select the status label and update its text.
Reorder: Drag statuses into the preferred order within their availability group.
Archive: Select the archive icon next to a custom status. Built-in statuses cannot be archived.
Restore: Select Archived statuses in the relevant group and restore the status.
Users with permission to view user settings can see the configured statuses, but only workspace administrators can change them.
