Issue deletion and recovery

Last updated: July 29, 2026

Admins can delete issues in Pylon when an issue should be removed from active views, reporting, and search results.

Who can delete issues?

Issue deletion is limited to admins. If you do not see the delete option on an issue, your role may not include permission to delete issues.

What happens when an issue is deleted?

Deleting an issue removes it from normal issue views and search, but Pylon keeps a recoverable copy in the background. This means deletion is intended to be reversible when needed, rather than an immediate permanent removal.

When an issue is deleted, related issue data is also removed from normal use, such as associated messages, issue metadata, metrics, linked product issues, and custom field values.

How can a deleted issue be recovered?

Deleted issues can be restored from the deletion event in Settings → Audit Logs. Find the relevant issue deletion event, then choose Restore and confirm.

Audit Logs are available on Enterprise plans. If your workspace does not have access to Audit Logs, contact Pylon Support for help recovering a deleted issue.

Pylon does not currently publish a fixed self-service recovery window for deleted issues, so we recommend restoring mistakenly deleted issues as soon as possible.

What gets restored?

When an issue is restored, Pylon brings the issue back into normal use and re-indexes it for search. Pylon also restores related data that was deleted at the same time as the issue, including issue message associations, metadata, metrics, linked product issues, and custom field values.

If a referenced object no longer exists, such as an assignee, team, account, requester, or topic, Pylon may clear that stale reference during restore so the issue can be recovered safely.

What might not be recoverable?

Most core issue data is restored, but some related data may not be recoverable in every case. For example, the restore confirmation warns that data such as SLAs and surveys may not be fully recoverable.

Best practices

  • Delete issues only when you are sure they should be removed from active workflows.

  • If an issue was deleted by mistake, try to restore it as soon as possible.

  • If you cannot access Audit Logs or need help recovering an issue, contact Pylon Support.
