What can you do with Pylon's Slack Agent?
Last updated: July 15, 2026
Pylon's Slack Agent helps internal teams answer product and customer questions and take supported actions without leaving Slack. The feature is currently in beta. To use it, teammates can mention the Pylon app in an internal Slack channel or send a DM to the app.
1. Get product and process answers
Ask Slack Agent questions about your product, support process, customer workflows, or internal documentation. Depending on your workspace configuration and permissions, it can use your knowledge base, documentation, past issues, and connected tools to find relevant context.
Example prompts:
"How do I configure load balancing for this workflow?"
"Does this integration support our customer's setup?"
"Which report contains this data?"
"Can this setting be changed through the API, or does it require the UI?"
"Find our latest security documentation."
2. Investigate customer issues
Teams can ask Slack Agent to review the current thread, attachments, prior issues, and connected systems to help diagnose a customer problem. This is useful when a teammate needs a faster starting point before escalating, replying, or creating a follow-up task.
Example prompts:
"Review this thread and help diagnose the problem."
"Have we seen an issue like this before?"
"Search our connected logs for this error and explain what happened."
"Review the attached spreadsheet and identify trends."
"Why did this automation trigger?"
3. Understand a customer account
Slack Agent can use the Pylon data available to the person asking, including issues, calls, emails, internal conversations, CRM data, and account context. This helps support, customer success, and implementation teams get caught up before a call, understand open work, or spot repeated customer themes.
Example prompts:
"Catch me up on this customer before my call."
"Summarize the history of this issue and the current status."
"Who owns this account?"
"What follow-ups do I owe this customer?"
"Review recent customer questions and identify repeated themes."
4. Take action from Slack
Slack Agent can also help with supported actions from Slack. The specific actions available depend on the tools your administrators have enabled and the permissions of the person asking.
Example prompts:
"Create a bug ticket from this message and attachment."
"Mark this issue as resolved."
"Update this customer's settings."
"Turn this explanation into a short customer-facing reply."
"Create or update a knowledge base article."
5. How to get better results
For best results, include three things in your request:
Context to review, such as a thread, issue, attachment, account, or document.
Task to perform, such as summarize, investigate, compare, draft, update, or create.
Desired output, such as a short reply, bullet summary, recommended next step, or table.
Example:
"Review this customer thread, check for similar past issues, and draft a short reply explaining the next step."
6. Permissions and guardrails
Slack Agent works in internal Slack channels and DMs.
It does not run in Slack Connect channels and cannot be triggered by external users.
It respects the Pylon access level of the person asking.
Administrators control available tools and actions.
Work performed through a teammate's connection uses that teammate's permissions.
