Migrating Chat Widget

This article will walk you through the process to migrate your Chat Widget from another support system to Pylon.

Engineering Resources

First off, this requires someone to modify the code in your product, usually an engineer. You'll want to alert that person as early as possible to make sure they have time for it.

Oftentimes, people will hide chat behind a feature flag or on staging until it's ready. It helps decouple installation from rollout.

Old Conversations

When you're ready, you'll need to hot-swap the chat widgets out. Thankfully old conversations will continue and can be finished over email in most systems.

Try and finish as many chats as you can before swapping. Less things to worry about.
