What is the difference between the Integration user and Viewer role?
Learn about the different user role types in Pylon and how they can interact with the platform.
Integration Users
Integration users are automatically created in Pylon when their messages are seen by the system in Slack, Linear, or other integrations. These users:
Are automatically added - no manual creation needed
Have no limit on the number of users
Cannot access the Pylon web application
Can be referenced in workflows, filters, and assigned to issues
Viewer Users
Viewers are users who need basic access to the Pylon web application. This role:
Must be manually assigned by an admin
Can log in to view content in the web application
Can be referenced in workflows, filters, and assigned to issues
Can leave internal notes on existing internal threads (cannot create new internal threads)
Note: The Viewer role may need to be enabled for your organization. Contact your account representative if you don't see this option available.
Adding Integration Users for Issue Assignment
You can add users who can be assigned issues and participate via Slack without having access to log into the Pylon web application. These are called "Integration users" and do not count towards your paid user licenses.
Setting Up Integration Users
First, go to Settings > Users and ensure that the option to allow anyone from your domain to login is toggled off.
Invite the user you want to add as an Integration user.
What Integration Users Can Do
Integration users can:
Be assigned to issues
Participate in the triage channel in Slack
Interact with issues through Slack
Managing Login Access
To revoke login access for a user:
Go to the Users settings page
Find the user in the list
Toggle off their login access
Note: When adding Integration users, they will still receive an initial invitation email. This email can be disregarded as their access will be revoked in the process of setting them up as a Integration user.
