What is the character limit for macros?

Macros in Pylon have a character limit of 3000 characters. This limit is set by the Slack API and cannot be increased at this time

While the limit is 3000 characters, it's important to note that this includes more than just the visible text. The following elements also count towards the character limit:

  • Links

  • Images

  • Formatting characters (such as those used for bold or italic text)

As a result, you may reach the limit even if your visible text appears to be less than 3000 characters.

Tips for managing long macros

If you find yourself frequently hitting the character limit, consider these strategies:

  1. Break long macros into multiple shorter ones

  2. Use links to external resources instead of including full text

  3. Optimize your use of images and formatting

  4. Review and edit your macro content to be more concise
