How to Change an Account Type in Pylon

You cannot directly change the account type of an existing account in Pylon after it has been created except for changing between Customer <> Partner account types.

However, there is a workaround:

  1. Go to the Accounts page in Pylon

  2. Find the account with the channel you want to change

  3. Unlink/remove the channel from that existing account

  4. Click "Add Account" at the top right

  5. Select "Slack Channels" and choose the channel you want to add back

  6. When adding it back, manually change the account type to "Internal" or "Community" before saving

  7. Save the account with the new type

For setting up internal channels specifically, you'll also need to create a Team in Pylon first and assign that team as the owner of the internal account.
