How do I integrate Telegram with Pylon?
Last updated: February 4, 2026
Make a new telegram bot via https://telegram.me/BotFather
Choose a name and username for your bot, this bot will send messages as fallback if the Pylon user has not connected their telegram account
Update the bot's picture and description
Disable privacy mode for the bot and ensure groups are enabled.
Copy the provided API Token and Bot username
Go to the Apps Directory page
Click on Telegram app and hit Connect
Paste your bot username and your bot token
Telegram is now connected to Pylon. You can now connect your personal Telegram account with your Pylon account.
How do I connect users from Pylon to Telegram?
Each user should connect their personal Telegram account on the Telegram Integrations page
It will require you to input your Telegram phone number and authenticate by sending a code to your Telegram account
If you do not receive a code, please check all sessions of Telegram you are signed into. Telegram will send the code to one of those sessions. You can also sign out of all other sessions, to guarantee you receive the code in your remaining instance of Telegram.
This will allow the user to send messages from their Telegram profile through Pylon
You can also map Telegram users to Pylon users on the users mapping tab. This will prevent Pylon from treating them as customer messages and won't create new issues for their messages. However, the user must connect to their Telegram account manually if they want to send messages through Pylon.
For Telegram users that are not Pylon users, invite those users as Integration users to map those Telegram accounts to Pylon users. See here for more details.
How do I connect accounts to Telegram chats?
Connect your personal Telegram account on the Telegram Integrations page
It will require you to input your Telegram phone number and authenticate by sending a code to your Telegram account
Add Telegram channels you're part of to existing accounts.
You can also create new accounts from Telegram chats via the "Add account" flow.
The Telegram bot you created will automatically join the channel afterwards
The Telegram bot will be promoted to an Admin by default since this is required from Telegram for the bot to handle reactions. Otherwise, Pylon will not receive up to date emoji reactions from users.
